How to keep my frizzy hair straight?

ok so i have "Caucasian hair" as some hair stylist said and i shouldn't get a chemical relaxer because it would fry my hair...but i desperately want straight or at least wavy hair instead of the super frizzy shrub that i call hair! and if i use a hair straightener it only makes my hair bigger and more frizzy....so does anyone have any suggestions??
