Is Islam really the religion of Peace and Love ?

i have known some lovely muslims, but like ALL religions it is the nutters who get all the attention. It seems to me that once a group of people decide that they and only they are right they feel the need to bully everyone else. Peace doesn't seem to get much of a look-in then. The koran advocates a very peaceful and respectful way of living but that like all religious books fails to factor in the power-hungry little humans looking for an excuse to be the biggest bully in the playground.
