Can Tuition Repayment Contract be Enforced by Employer in CA?

I am planning to take Business yst training provided by an Indian consulting company. They will give 12 cles and charging me $850 but also forcing to sign a contract with them for 12 months that they will market me and give me a fixed salary for 12 months if I'm employed with them. If I break the contract it clearly states in the contract that I'm liable to pay $10,000 to them for training costs. I'm very scared to enter into any contracts. Please advise. Can they sue me later on if I sign the contract?
