Does the Bible tell us what the man next to Jesus on the cross was guilty of?

Jesus told that man that he would be with Him in Paradise..because this man knew he was a sinner and He believed that Jesus was the Son of God..Doesn't this show how loving and merciful Jesus is at the time of judgment?..Do we know what crime he had committed?
