Why do men prefer to go hungry rather than learn to cook for themselves?

Even the simplest things, like tea. They'd never make it to themselves, they go around hungry, with martyrs faces, hoping that someone - their mother, their girlfriend, sister, somebody - will arrive and wait on them? Honestly, I knew a man of 48, he divorced from his wife and he did not know how to brew a cup of tea for himself. He took one of these little packed tea packaged open, you know the ones in a little paper pack which you put in a cup and then pour water on? And he could not cut a slice of bread off a loaf! He tore the pieces off. His ex-wife did it for himself, he was scarcely able to put a spoon of sugar from a sugar bowl into his cup. Why do they rather go hungry than concoct some simple (and nowadays they have these half-ready dinners and what not) meal for themselves?
